It's a Really Big Deal!
I'm very excited to celebrate our country's 250th birthday. The sense of pride and anticipation seems to be contagious right now, and I hope it continues well beyond next week. In a time where division is more prevalent than unity, I pray this time of reflection and celebration brings all of us together as the greater American family.
Fun tale... I'm going to age myself, but oh well... I so remember the bicentennial celebrations we all had back in 1976. I was in Mrs. Anthony's first grade class at Echols Elementary School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The entire school participated in a play depicting the story of our humble beginnings as a nation. I was a pilgrim in the play and got to "ride" in the Mayflower! It was a really big deal and pretty life-changing for a little six year old! See, it obviously made a lasting impression... I'm still talking about it!! :)
Well, I hope each one of you enjoy your friends and families on this really big deal occasion. I'd love to hear how you're celebrating, and it would be an even bigger bonus if you share some of your holiday pictures with me! Happy birthday, America!
