Will Grayson County Ever Be The Same?
... There's a lot of talk around the big article in D Magazine about "The Great Sherman Land Rush".
Speculation is at an all time high and there is no doubt that growth is here and will continue for a very long time. While many are excited about expansion and all things "new", others are not so thrilled with the thought of our population growing and our "small town" not being so small anymore. I'd like to take a minute and give an ounce of my perspective...
Yes, Sherman is growing and will continue to do so. New subdivisions are popping up everywhere and building is seen on every corner. Developers have done a good job of preparing our area with adequate housing. We are in an "in between" time when the housing has drastically increased but the bodies are not here yet. Texas Instruments is expected to start hiring later this year and Global Wafers after that. Housing inventory is up with buyer needs down a little. The housing report in December for Sherman shows median home prices down 6.5% from December 2023, and the number of actives listings is up over 42% from December 2023. What this tells us is that it's the most opportune time to invest before the buyers start arriving.
So... will Grayson County ever be the same? No, but just like all things in life, we are ever changing, evolving, and growing. Good can be found in the change, and opportunity abounds around every corner if we are just open to see it, feel it, and accept it. I love our community and am excited to be a part of this exciting time!
